This is an older hotel with a European feel: luxurious linens, very comfortable bed, small rooms, tasteful furnishings. The lobby is spacious and tranquil. When we were there, a huge wood burning fireplace and dozens of candles added to the ambiance. The location couldn't be better; it is within easy walking distance of the Plaza, the Palace of Governors, the Basilica of St Francis, numerous museums,the Loretto Chapel and the very chic shops of Santa Fe. Of course there are many wonderful restaurants in Santa Fe, but I don't think you can beat the restaurant in the hotel, The Tabla de Los Santos. The food is wonderful! Alejandro, our waiter, provides excellent and personal service. During our stay we had dinner as well as breakfast there. Highly recommended.

The location is unbeatable, right in town. The lobby is gorgeous, decorated simply with candles and religious icons. I loved the Spartan convent decor which is in keeping with hotel's history. Crisp white bed linen, comfy beds, white walls, dark metal hinges, and wooden furniture. The room sizes are a little smaller than normal, but this didn't bother me.

The food is too die for at the St. Francis! Have the naked chile - immediately!! The chile they use is incredible, no one else has it. Try the eggs in the morning - incredible!! This hotel is very very special (eat, pray, love - I truly mean it). Candles everywhere - it's like being in the lobby of a castle right in the heart of Santa Fe. Check out the hotel photos and you'll see what I mean. They have a great restaurant with a fireplace - just what everyone wants. They have the Secreto Bar - which is fabulous. Big fireplace to warm you in the lobby. Rooms are very easy to get to by elevator or just take the grand staircase. Their beds are like a heavenly cloud. Insider tip: Your room will be bigger if you ask for a double! All the pluses are there: flat screen TV, rain shower head, casement windows and a beautiful bowl sink. It's just classy and simple. From the hotel you are just steps to the Loretto chapel and of course the plaza and all the shops are just right there. Park out front ... so easy. Try this hotel. It's my second stay and I'll be back again for more. Can't wait. Hasta Luego!

"My partner and I and our dog Angie arrived in Santa Fe on a road trip with no reservations and found the St Francis on a dog friendly website. We enjoyed our stay very much, the service was excellent and the location is fantastic. The front desk staff went above and beyond in helping us with our dog, and Inger, the concierge, made the trip memorable with her restaurant recommendations. She steered us away from the tourist haunts and into several incredible meals, thank you Inger! The hotel is in a historical building so the rooms can be quirky, but they are tastefully decorated. This is not your corporate cookie cutter hotel, it is a boutique accommodation. The St Francis is a great choice for folks who would like the historical reference in the interior design and a bit of adventure. We had a great experience at the St Francis!"

I recently stayed again at the St. Francis Hotel in Santa Fe. The St. Francis has become my go-to place and is the antidote to the cookie-cutter experience of staying at one of the big chain hotels; it's in a fantastic and lovingly and authentically, restored, historical hotel, the staff is amazing, the place oozes history and the beds are enough to make me want to stay on another night just so I can relax in them. The attention to historical detail, archival photographs of the hotel and Santa Fe, the rustic fittings throughout the property, the lobby at night, lit with humongous candles, the furnishings, The Secreto Bar and dining room make me reluctant to leave the property to see and do the other things I come to Santa Fe to do. The location of the St. Francis is also one of it's biggest strengths: it's close to everything downtown. If you're into staying in a "proper" hotel that isn't a B&B, with a singular atmosphere - chic, incredibly romantic and cool, but with deep respect to its past - this is it.

"Love the minimalist Southwest décor. Excellent location, friendly helpful staff. Rooms are well appointed. The porch is a fun place to sit and have a glass of wine. Comfortable beds.

"Stayed with my husband and a friend stayed in an adjoining room. Amazing stay. The rooms are tiny but it's an old hotel, which adds to the charm. The decor is heavenly and very relaxing. The bar was enjoyable, unfortunately we did not get to eat there. The mattress and sheets were fabulous - Frette! it does not get better than that! Definitely a repeat stay for us!"
